2000s Lifestyle, Part 2

I really love the 2000s. What can I say? It was an iconic period of time. If only I had been born earlier. Aside from the obvious (clothes, makeup, perfumes, jewelry, etc.), I think my favorite thing about the 2000s is the community. People came together to laugh at cult classics, to cry during tragedies, to fear, to hate, to love. Maybe the 480p camera resolution has me fooled, but I really see an authenticity to life back then, one that's severely lacking now. I suppose I could sit and complain about how the 2020s suck in comparison to the 2000s, but that would be lame, wouldn't it? I want this blog to be fun for the most part. I think what I'll do is continue living as a 2000s connoisseur and pretending it's 2006. Why not? Life is too boring to not romanticize. What's your favorite part of the 2000s? xox Shania

In Utero

Hey! Honestly, it has been hard as of late. Not just with how my life is unfolding, but with my very existence. I know what you're thinking: she's probably going to drone on about how 'woe is me' her life is-- she'll even throw in some rehashed internet philosophy for brownie points . Well not quite! I'm actually going to talk about life as a socially awkward, raging-hormoned woman. And throw in my own philosophy for brownie points. What inspired this post specifically was my body actually. I've been bleeding for 12 days. Yay me. I'm wondering if my blood is in utero, or if I'm dying, or maybe I drank one too many sodas this month. It's actually kind of brain numbing to only have a week of sanity in the female menstrual cycle. Bleed, need, purge, and repeat, as I like to say (I totally just made that up now). I have no real purpose for this post. I'm being bled dry, I'm angry, I'm sad, I'm in my prime. Gotta start somewhere right...

Blacker Days

What's up!  It's been a few days since I last updated my blog. It can get a bit difficult to keep up with things like this in your day to day life, but I'm going to keep trying my best! Speaking of trying, sometimes it gets really dark on some days, and I struggle to keep my head up. Do you guys ever have those kind of days? Sometimes it feels like I'm the only one; when I speak with friends and family, they don't seem to grasp how hard it is to maintain an unhappy brain. But what do you expect with depression? I want to feel the light of life, but on blacker days, I feel lost.   I really wanted to keep this blog as optimistic and uplifting as possible, but I have to be honest. It is so draining to keep all the thoughts to myself. Sometimes the biggest smiles are the saddest ones.   But enough talk of my mental decline. I'm going to continue to romanticsize, to daydream, to hope, and to wait. I deserve the life that I have saved on my Pinterest boards. Doesn...

2000s Lifestyle

Look at her hair! Just gorge! I love the 2000s so much! I mentioned in a previous post that I like collecting things, and vintage clothes are at the top of the list of things I love to collect. Honestly, I think my life would be better had I been born earlier. There would definitely be some downsides (racism, the economy, ED culture, my mother) but it's nothing that's not already being done and dealt with is these times. Dark stuff aside (because this is meant to be a lighthearted blog), I think that I definitely would've fit in better in the 2000s. I know every young person now seems to think that, but I genuinely believe it. I wouldn't have been made fun of for being skinny, I would have a surplus of quality clothes (because let's be honest, clothes SUCK now), and I would be witnessing some of the most iconic moments of pop culture and society live. Seems so much better than the life I'm forced to have now. Bet my blog would've looked cuter on MySpace to...

I miss that day! It was hot as hell, but honestly I love being out with my friends!
I need my hair done pronto!

Staying Productive

Image
Good afternoon! These days I find myself trying to stay somewhat active. It's a bit of a struggle, as I'm someone who absolutely hates  exercising or anything extremely physical. To add on to that struggle, I've been battling totally unwanted sad thoughts-- for quite some time now. So I had to pick up hobbies. Like this one. Today, I kept myself busy by organizing my college move-in bags. Quite a chore for a skinny girl with no upper or lower body strength! Plus, I was pretty hungry. Note to self and to all reading: don't do physically exerting activities on an empty stomach! To keep myself even busier, I did something a little more fun. If you couldn't already tell from my profile picture and the Y2K setup, I love customization. Anything that can be customized, I will customize. From my laptop, to my school bags, my notebooks, even my very phone setup. What can I say, it's a fun pastime. To get back to the point, today, I edited some photos for some friends. E...

Slow Mornings

Morning! I think one of my favorite things about day to day life are the slow mornings. I stay up until ungodly hours of the night (and morning), and wake up at whatever time I wish. Somehow, despite sleeping at 3-4am nightly, I manage to wake up around 7-8am. I'm totally sleep deprived, but I don't mind at all. It's what makes these mornings so comfy; the burn behind your tired eyes, the feeling of the body waking up-- it's a feeling that I enjoy most on days off. On this particular slow morning, I had iced coffee that I made the night previous. The overnight chill it developed was pretty good. I made six pancakes instead of the classic three, because why not? It's my morning, and I can take it how I want. Buttered those up and washed it down. Absolutely satisfying breakfast. One of the best parts of slow mornings is definitely returning to bed. The body just relaxes and eases into itself. I think that I'll for sure enjoy my bedrotting this morning. Don't ...

The Chances of Tomorrow

Hi! I honestly don't even know how to start this post. A blog is something that I never imagined myself committing to, but I see this blog not as a chore to continuously complete but an escape from the strife of the world. As an upcoming college freshman, I am about to open the doors to millions of new possibilities. I am itching to try them all. And as a chronic procrastinator, I love the concept of tomorrow. There's always another day in our seemingly endless vial of time to try something new. If it can't be achieved today, there will always be a tomorrow. I'm actually surprising myself as I write this, I'm not usually such an optimistic person. But I want to expand my person in ways that I haven't before, and this is my starting point. For anyone who reads this blog and follows along, thank you for being apart of the journey. xox Shania
